POKOTABI / Uogin
魚吟
Situated on the 2 floor of a building in Kichijoji Minamicho, Uogin serves meticulously prepared lunchtime nigiri alongside drinks-friendly dishes such as fried Shiba shrimp, simmered fish, and sujiko rolls in a relaxed setting.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
A short walk from the Park Exit of Kichijoji Station, on the 2 floor of a neighbourhood building, Uogin provides an unpretentious setting for sushi and cooked seafood dishes. The midday menu includes standard and deluxe nigiri sets featuring 9 pieces of sushi accompanied by a small side dish and ara-jiru (fish-bone broth). The appeal lies in tasting carefully executed fish—such as squid scored with fine, delicate cuts—paired with neatly seasoned sushi rice in a comfortable atmosphere.
In the evening, the selection expands well beyond nigiri to include an assortment of fish dishes and small plates designed to pair with drinks. Alongside sashimi, simmered fish, and aromatic grilled catches, the kitchen turns out deep-fried Shiba shrimp, salted salmon roe (sujiko) rolls, grilled shishamo smelt, and freshly made tamagoyaki omelettes. Diners can set their own pace while pairing their choices with beer and other drinks.
With both counter and table seating, the calm dining room accommodates a quiet solo meal just as comfortably as dinner with companions. From straightforward lunch sets to leisurely evening rounds of fish dishes and nigiri, it serves as a dependable stop for genuine seafood cookery without formality.
